It was a cool spring morning—not unlike today—when my father turned to me and said: “You know what, kiddo? Unelected officials in government agencies cannot make laws. And, if they start, we’ll have a real constitutional crisis on our hands.”
Okay. Fine. He didn’t say that. But, imagine how prophetic he would have been if he had!
We don’t have to bore you with listing the number of government power grabs from the past two years (we could, but dinner would get cold.) From federal agencies to local health departments, everyone wanted a piece of that unconstitutional rulemaking pie. All of a sudden, where you could go, what you could do, and who you could see all fell within the purview of unelected bureaucrats.
Of course, this is shocking when you consider that our constitution spells this out right away in Article 1:
“All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.”
This is the nondelegation doctrine, and simply put: if you are not elected, you can’t make laws. That’s why we hear so much about CDC “guidance.”
But, over the past two years, we have seen far too many examples of agencies skirting around these protections in our constitution. The justification for this generally boils down to the idea that extraordinary circumstances call for extraordinary measures—with the trust that it would not be abused.
Surely, the CDC would change with the science…

Oops.
But, they would never try to obscure data in order to fit their narrative!

Yikes.
Well, at least they wouldn’t change their metrics out of the blue. Everything will be clearly grounded in science, right?

Oh, come on!
In We The People’s opinion, enough is enough. Without accountability, trust is forever eroded and our whole system of government suffers for it.
And, we need to ask: where would it stop? We already have two world superpowers with unaccountable governments (even if they claim to have elections). Turn your head East and you can see what unchecked power looks like. It’s terrifying, and it has no place in the United States.
Our government and especially those who are unelected within it must always be held accountable. Our constitution demands it and We The People demand it!
